How our clients are using AI to supercharge their job search

AI can accelerate your job search when used intentionally — not by replacing your thinking, but by helping you clarify your message, prepare more effectively and move faster with confidence.

AI can’t replace your career strategy, but it can be a powerful partner.

More clients are embracing AI tools to accelerate their job search and build confidence along the way. From refining their elevator pitch to researching companies and drafting outreach emails, AI is becoming an extra set of eyes, a brainstorming partner and even a practice coach.

Here are some of the most effective ways our clients are using AI, along with best practices to get the most value from it.

Crafting your elevator pitch

Your elevator pitch is one of the hardest things to get right, and AI can be a great starting point.

Begin by answering these questions:

  • What’s my role and core area of work?
  • What impact do I make?
  • What do I love doing?
  • What makes me unique?

Then prompt AI to use this structure:

  • An “I am” statement
  • High level career background
  • Impact and proof points
  • Strengths and passions

Provide an example pitch, then ask AI to “make this more conversational.”

Next, read it out loud, record yourself and listen back. Refine anything that feels awkward or unnatural.

The goal isn’t to let AI write it for you. It’s to help you start strong and find language that feels like you.

Building your target company list

If you’re clear on what matters to you, like company size, stage, industry, location or culture, AI can help surface aligned opportunities.

Try prompts like:

  • “Suggest 10 mid-sized SaaS companies in the Bay Area with a strong culture and known for innovation.”
  • “Based on my interest in healthtech and product roles, what companies should I explore?”
  • “Here’s a list of companies I admire. What other organizations share similar values and missions?”

Company and industry research

Clients are using AI to get smart fast. Common prompts include:

  • “Summarize the last quarterly earnings call from [company].”
  • “What are [company]’s top priorities right now?”
  • “What are people saying about [company] on Glassdoor and other review sites?”

AI can also scan recent press, company blogs and industry trends, helping you show up informed and ready to ask sharper questions in interviews.

Storytelling and interview prep

The best interview answers are structured and compelling, and AI can help you shape them.

Start by writing your own response to a common question, like “Tell me about a time you overcame an obstacle” or “Describe a time you disagreed with a colleague.”

Then ask AI to apply a framework like CAR (Context, Action, Result).

Once the structure is in place, take it further: “Make this sound more conversational, like I’m saying it out loud.”

Pro tip: Give AI additional inputs like performance reviews, resume bullets or job descriptions to improve the relevance of the response.

Even better, include a strong sample story. AI performs best with reference points.

Record yourself, listen back, refine, repeat. It’s one of the most effective ways to ensure your stories feel natural, not rehearsed.

Emails for outreach, follow-up and thank yous

AI is a helpful draft partner when you know what you want to say but are feeling stuck with what to write.

Provide key inputs like:

  • The purpose of the email, whether it’s a thank you, networking request or follow-up for a role
  • The recipient’s LinkedIn profile
  • A few notes on your conversations
  • The specific ask or next step you’re hoping for

Then refine to match your voice. Always read it out loud before hitting send. It helps you catch anything that sounds robotic or overly formal.

Close with a sign-off that feels like you:

  • “Best” or “Looking forward to next steps”
  • Avoid “Warmly” unless it’s your default and skip “Regards” as it can feel outdated

The bottom line

AI works best when you take the lead.

It’s a powerful tool for brainstorming, drafting and refining, but the voice, intent and heart behind your job search still come from you.
